RoudybushTM Inc. introduces a new maintenance diet formulated from rice products, minerals, and vitamins. Birds showing signs of allergies to other food products, such as feather picking/self mutilation, may benefit from this diet.

RoudybushTM is proud to take avian nutrition to a new level with the introduction of our new Rice Diet. RoudybushTM Rice Diet can be a powerful and easy tool to determine whether common destructive behaviors such as self mutilation or feather picking may be caused by a food allergy. Current allergy testing techniques can be unreliable and is one of the reasons diagnosing and treating these disorders are difficult. Rice Diet was developed to help both veterinary professionals and bird owners keep healthy, happy birds.

Rice Diet is available in Mini and Small size pellets for birds from budgies to macaws. Although the Rice Diet is a Careline product, it does not require a veterinarian's prescription and can be sold over-the-counter.

With all serious health problems, we recommend that owners consult a qualified veterinarian to rule out other causes of self-destructive behavior before changing their birds' diet.

Follow Below Instructions Carefully!

Once your bird is eating the Rice Diet, do not give it any other food items for up to 10 weeks. Do not give any treats unless it is unseasoned rice or a rice product with nothing but rice on the ingredient list. Even one bite of a food your bird is allergic to can cause a reaction. If you see a decrease in itchy behavior or an improvement in feathering, continue feeding your bird the Rice Diet. After you've been able to fully evaluate the results of the diet, you can add back one simple food item at a time, and then watch to see if the itchy behavior recurs. If your bird continues to do well, then you know that it can tolerate that food item. If your bird reacts to the addition of the new food item, wait until the itchiness subsides before trying another food item.
